Platform Engineer – AWS & Kubernetes Specialist
Location: Sydney or Melbourne, Australia
Contract Duration: 7 months (with potential for extension)

About the Role:
Join our client as a Platform Engineer, where you’ll collaborate on a transformative project with a leading bank. This role is perfect for professionals with a strong background in cloud engineering, Kubernetes, and data processing, who are eager to work at the cutting edge of technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy containerized applications on AWS, utilizing Compute, Storage, Networking, and Monitoring services.
• Provision AWS infrastructure with a focus on cloud-native architecture and seamless DevOps integration.
• Manage hybrid cloud environments, Kubernetes clusters, and ensure HA/DR configurations.
• Support Presto and Spark applications, including building images and deploying them on EKS.
• Investigate and resolve issues with Spark jobs and other data processing workflows.
• Collaborate with Application Architects to optimise CI/CD pipelines and define performance benchmarks.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Strong Kubernetes/EKS expertise, with hands-on experience deploying and managing applications.
• Familiarity with big data components and SQL-based data processing concepts.
• Background in Spark and Starburst (or similar tools).
• Experience in platform engineering, including cloud administration.
• Ability to investigate and resolve data processing issues in tools like Spark and Presto.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to data engineering and experience with SQL-based analytics.
• Understanding of how Spark functions at a deeper level to assist with troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of CRIO, Docker, and orchestration best practices.
