Overview

The Diploma of Project Management equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to manage projects effectively across various industries. This qualification covers key areas such as project planning, scope management, time and cost management, risk assessment, team leadership, stakeholder communication, quality assurance, and procurement. It prepares professionals to coordinate all aspects of a project, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards. Designed for team leaders, supervisors, or those transitioning into project management roles, it is ideal for advancing career prospects. While there are no formal prerequisites, prior experience or a Certificate IV in Project Management is beneficial. Delivered online, face-to-face, or through blended learning, the program typically takes 12–24 months to complete. Graduates often pursue roles such as Project Manager, Program Manager, Operations Manager, or Business Analyst. The qualification is nationally recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Key Features

Work experience  
Practise teaching for up to 80 days under expert supervision in at least two different high schools. The design component of this degree offers industry experiences such as internships, work placements, studio projects and networking opportunities. 

Professional standards  
Learn to teach to professional standards in a program accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Graduate ready to teach visual arts to high school students – with the added option of a second specialisation in teaching graphics and multimedia technology.  

Integrated design skills 
Integrated design combines two specialisations to build a creative skillset unique to your passions. Pursue your interest in graphic design paired with your choice of object design, 3D visualisation, experience design, or interaction design.

Lessons in a Diploma of Project Management Course

  • Project Scope Management focuses on defining the boundaries, goals, and deliverables of a project. It teaches how to identify what is included or excluded from the project, ensuring clarity and managing changes effectively.

  • Time Management emphasizes creating schedules and timelines to organize tasks efficiently. This lesson includes techniques for tracking progress and ensuring that the project stays on schedule.

  • Cost Management addresses the financial aspects of projects, including budget creation, resource allocation, and controlling expenses to keep the project within budget.

  • Risk Management involves identifying potential risks that could impact the project and implementing strategies to mitigate or address those risks effectively.

  • Quality Management ensures the project meets required standards by focusing on both quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Communication Management covers the creation of communication plans and techniques to ensure clear and effective communication between all stakeholders, keeping everyone informed and aligned.

  • Team Leadership teaches skills for managing and motivating project teams, resolving conflicts, and fostering a productive and collaborative environment.

  • Procurement and Contract Management focuses on managing external suppliers, handling contracts, and overseeing procurement processes to secure necessary resources and services.

  • Project Integration Management ensures that all aspects of the project are coordinated and aligned, balancing resources, priorities, and deliverables to achieve overall success.

  • Stakeholder Engagement helps in identifying stakeholder needs and expectations, building positive relationships, and ensuring their involvement and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Admission Requirements for Diploma in Project Management

1. Academic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, Year 12 certificate).
  • Some institutions may require specific minimum grades or scores.

2. Work Experience (Optional but Preferred)

  • Relevant work experience (e.g., in business, administration, or management) may enhance the application.
  • For mature students (non-traditional students), work experience can sometimes replace formal academic qualifications.

3. Language Proficiency

  • For non-native English speakers:
    • English Language Proficiency Test Scores, such as:
      • IELTS: Minimum overall band score of 6.0.
      • TOEFL: Minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 80 (internet-based).
      • PTE Academic: Minimum score of 50.
  • Alternatively, evidence of previous education in English.

4. Application Form

  • Complete the institution’s official application form with accurate and up-to-date information.

5. Supporting Documents

  • Proof of Academic Qualifications (certificates, transcripts).
  • Resume/CV showcasing any work experience and relevant skills.
